Our data sources

Companies House

All limited companies in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland are registered with Companies House. Every company is required by law to file specific statutory details, including registration data, owner details and annual financial statements. Relevant documents and database records are published under the Companies Act 2006

The UK has had a system of company registration since 1844. Companies House is essentially a company registration library. Described as "Executive Agency of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS)", there are three Registrars:

  • England and Wales - The Registrar of Companies for England and Wales is based in Cardiff.
  • Scotland - The Registrar of Companies for Scotland is based in Edinburgh.
  • Northern Ireland - The Registrar of Companies for Northern Ireland is based in Belfast.

Registry Trust

EU & UK Data Ltd sources CCJ information from Creditsafe Business Solutions Limited supplied by The Registry Trust. The Registry Trust operates the Registry of judgments, Orders and Fines for England and Wales on behalf of the Department for Constitutional Affairs. This includes County Court Judgments. Registry Trust website: http://www.trustonline.org.uk/

London Gazette

This is an official British Government publication in which certain statutory notices are required to be published. In addition to containing information such as official Government announcements, it also lists details of bankruptcy proceedings, dissolutions of partnerships, winding-up orders against companies, notices under Section 652 of the Companies’ Act, Voluntary liquidations, etc.

Royal Mail

The credit reports now contain directory information including trading address, telephone number, website and principal activity.
